Book Review

Interrupted: When Jesus Wrecks Your Comfortable Christianity
Jen Hatmaker
2014 NavPress

I cannot say enough good things about the concepts and practices put forth in this book.  Jen has such a great way of putting biblical principles into everyday words and actions.  She and her husband planted a new church in Austin, TX, and this book relates many of their experiences of moving into this community and being missionaries.  Not missionaries who pound others over the head with the Bible, but people who live the gospel (the good news) amongst their neighbors and people who serve their community.  Living like Jesus is a way of life.  They don’t just “do church”, they are the church—the body of Christ--in their corner of the world.
The challenge is to not wait until you have extra time or are less busy.  Let your life be interrupted, let your paradigms be shifted, let your homes be interrupted, and let your families be interrupted as you serve others and lead them to Christ through your friendship and example.  Be prepared to open your eyes and mind to a new way of living out your faith.
